National Institute for Economic Research implements the FP7 project "Exploring the potential for agricultural and biomass trade in the Commonwealth of Independent States"

Since January 1, 2014, the National Institute for Economic Research is implementing the project "Exploring the potential for agricultural and biomass trade in the Commonwealth of Independent States" (AGRICISTRADE). It is a part of the FP7 cooperation projects and the consortium is made up of institutions from the following countries: France, Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Lithuania, Austria, Belgium, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russian Federation and Ukraine.

AGRICISTRADE contributes to the questions related to CIS’ agricultural and trade development by building a comprehensive and reliable database, by testing options to improve yields, overall productivity and chains’ competitiveness and by showing the implications of future scenarios of agricultural and trade developments for domestic and international markets.

It has four research objectives:

  1. to improve the understanding of the agri-food sector performance in CIS,
  2. to better understand the causes of untapped agricultural production potentials in CIS and suggest pathways for improvement,
  3. to explore developments in agricultural supply chains
  4. to enhance the analytical framework for future assessments of developments of CIS’ agri-food potentials and trade.

The project will last three years.
