The project “PROMOTING BETTER ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES (SME)”
Project duration: 01.04.2014 - 30.09.2014 (6 months)
Although small businesses’ individual environmental footprint in EU Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) may be low, their aggregate impact is considerable. However, EaP countries have given little consideration to the greening of small businesses, and lack the legal, policy and institutional means to enhance the environmental performance of SMEs. The SME Policy Index report produced by the OECD, the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in 2012 recommended that EaP countries include green economy concepts in their SME programmes and strategies and provide resources for the promotion of eco-efficient business among SMEs.
